NEW YORK TIMES "Last week Judge Joan Madden ordered Google to identify the anonymous blogger whose site, “Skanks in NYC,” hosted by a Google subsidiary and now removed, slammed the fashion model Liskula Cohen. Madden found the blogger’s writing, including the assertion that Cohen is a “psychotic, lying, whoring … skank,” to be “reasonably susceptible to a defamatory connotation.” That is, Cohen has the basis for a lawsuit and is entitled to know the identity of the blogger in order to seek legal redress. Google complied, identifying the blogger to Cohen’s lawyer. Has anonymous posting, though generally protected by law, become so toxic that it should be discouraged?"
****this paragraph written by randy cohen, who writes the ethicist column for the new york times was part of his pontification on whether or not things should be written anonymously. we like randy (no relation to the model mentioned) so much that we don't care what he says. if we see his byline, we agree with everything under it.
however, randy does work for a very sleazy organization, the new york times, that has been caught telling big fibs from time to time. the times is an organization that day after day takes a strong political position, but hides it in its "news" stories. is that an ethical place for randy to work at?
also, the times is full of crap when it comes to its reporting on israel which is always unfair. maybe that is because it is owned by a family who are closet jews who don't wish to look like they are pro-jewish. their biggest caper in that regards was keeping the concentration camps a secret in world war two.
bottom line is that randy should be looking for another job because our prediction is that the new york times has run out of string and is going to go under.
