ONLINE HUSTLE "Two big-name acts have been added to the upcoming season at the Lied Center.
Ira Glass, host of “This American Life” on public radio, and the musical “Cats” will make stops in Lawrence. The additions were made recently to the 2009-2010 season, which was announced in the spring.
"Glass will discuss journalism and storytelling during his appearance. He’ll explore the process of combining monologues, interviews, narratives and music into one story. He’ll appear at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20. Tickets are $38 for adults and $18 for students and youths."
****how fitting that ira be asked to do something at the "lied" something or other. we realize the lied center has nothing to do with telling fibs, but ira sure as hell does. why folks, he must have a nose as long as pinocchio. he is so typical of the fat cats of public radio who make a bundle on their racket of being on a never ending dole from contributing suckers.
these are the suckers who have never taken a stroll through the facilities of a public station like wnyc in new york city. boy, do they know how to piss away money on fixtures, carpets and staff. the head office of national public radio in washington dc appears to be designed by the same people who did buckingham palace and the louvre.
we don't like ira. never had, never will. but, here is why we are in a twit today.
he did a story about some white jewish kid who lived on a black guy's couch in harlem fifty years ago and he gave the impression that harlem of then and harlem of now is some romanticized section of this city with all the natives singing and dancing...when they are not being abused by the honkies.
according to ira, whites are not as nice as blacks and not as likely to take in someone who claims he is needy. that kid, who ira is so delighted with, abused his own parents and based on the time line are probably now dead having never had the joy of a loving son.
ira also told the story about a guy who tried to help a lady get into her car because she had locked herself out. the story went on and on and on and on. all the lady had to do was to call the automobile club and she would have been in her car in five minutes, but then ira would not have had this tale to tell.
probably the worst, was the story about a neighbor who was harassing her next door neighbor day and night. again, ira wants to turn this into something that it is not. all the injured party had to do was to contact the landlord and he would have, by law, made the bad person stop. someone, we guess not ira, should have called the police and that would have ended it.
in the midst of all this crap, ira says on radio, that is being heard all over the united states and maybe all over the world, that new york city is the least nice place.
that does it. listen punk, you ever say that again within the length of an arm and we will punch you in the head. this city is number one in niceness.
ira, you are a schmuck..
