NEW YORK TIMES "A heated argument has broken out between the NYPD and a City Council committee over a bill that would make all traffic agents take photographs of certain parking violations.
"Councilman James Vacca, who sponsored the bill, said the city was just concerned that it would lose revenue from "unreasonable, inappropriate, and frivolous tickets."
"I think that's part of the reason they're opposed to it," Vacca, a Bronx Democrat, said. "Traffic tickets were never meant to be a revenue raiser."
"Images of violations like parking in bus stops, bicycle lanes, and closer than fifteen feet to a fire hydrant would stop most traffic agents from printing bogus tickets and would put the brakes on those who chronically clog the hearing system with ticket contests, he said."
****sometimes you don't want what you wished for. we urged that mayor bloomberg fire his girl friend martha stewart as finance commissioner because she ran a corrupt department. the reason we figured she was his girl friend was because we couldn't figure out how he could hire her and keep her on the job. well, after a number of sex scandals (not with the mayor) he got rid of her.
ooops. now, we have someone even worse. this is michael hyman who was appointed acting commissioner of finance on may 4, 2009. this is a guy who worked for martha stark and has for most of his life sucked the city dry, from education to employment.
the traffic police are nasty and abusive and what is even worse, ugly and fat. most of them are also racists who will always give a ticket if the driver is white. if michael doesn't believe that accusation, how come the department of finance refuses to let the public know the race of the person getting the ticket? how about marking it down on every ticket that is given out? that will never happen, but it would prove our point.
getting back to the above news article. the reason we need the pictures of these violations is that the department of finance knows that many tickets are just plain fakes, but what driver has the time to spend the day fighting the ticket in the filthy crap house at the department of finance hearing office?
by the way, speaking of finance, how about a complete accounting of the travel and expense account of michael hyman?
